Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck often goes by other names including: Walkie or Walkie-Rider. These pieces of equipment are basically a motorized type of a pallet jack. They are available in both "Walkie" models as well as "Rider" versions.
Like what the name implies, the walkie type is designed for the operator to walk alongside with the unit as they move cargo. The Rider model on the other hand, utilizes a small platform for which the operator stands on. The rider models are ideal for frequent transporting of loads over extended distances in manufacturing operations and warehouses. They are extremely maneuverable and fast.
It is not recommended to pick up and move unstable or tall loads as there are no safety cages on these models. A rider might be the perfect answer if you are searching for an inexpensive way of transporting loads from point A to point B. If though, you should move heavy loads short distances, and prefer to utilize a more employee-friendly unit rather than a pallet jack, the walkie model could be the right alternative.
Order Selector
The order picker or order selector is a piece equipment designed specifically for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks attached to a platform in the Man-up design. This platform elevates both the load and the operator in order to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are usually very narrow aisle vehicles that can work in aisles of less than six feet. They are extremely useful pieces of machinery in physical inventories as well as during cycle counting situations. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, though models which range in the 20 to 30 foot range are much more popular.
