Solid Lift Truck Tire Safety
More than 200 deaths per year within North America are caused by lift trucks, or forklifts. Correct maintenance and inspection of lift truck tires could truly help to lessen the risk of accidents.

Pre-Work Check
Before the start of each shift, the tires on the lift truck must be inspected for indications of wear and damage. The air pressure in the tires must be inspected to ensure the pressure is not very low. Having a tire pressure that is low can make the machinery prone to tip-overs when lifting loads.

Types of Tires
The choice of tire type should be based on the type of surface on which the lift truck would be used. For indoor applications, lift trucks with solid rubber tires are recommended. For smoother surfaces, tires are normally smaller. Larger pneumatic tires are great for lift trucks being used outdoors. Pneumatic tires can grip well on surfaces which are rough because they have rubber tread and are air-filled.

Other factors
Any lift truck utilized on a continual basis must be checked at the completion of each shift, according to OSHA guidelines. The tires must be checked once more for any sign of damage, such as cuts or wear.

Lift truck Safety
Forklift safety is important for any employee or employer utilizing a lift truck since lift truck accidents could be serious causing personal injuries and even death. Even minor mishaps could cost your company money if the merchandise or the forklift are damaged during a mishap. Be sure you are well informed regarding issues involved in lift truck safety.
